This book tells the story of the everyday life and "worries" of an empress: it introduces Elizabeth's wardrobe, her hair care rituals, her eating (or rather, fasting) habits, her medical treatments, her illnesses. It tells about what she was passionate about, what she was talented at, tells about her endless travels, her fears, superstitions, depression and, last but not least, her relationship with her staff and ladies-in-waiting. Elizabeth was a versatile, colorful individual in her private life. Her many strange whims did not cause much of a stir at that time, since it was common for people of all social classes to indulge in strange whims. She lived her life according to her own ideas, but her ideas most often conflicted with court regulations.
